The Friday night Melbourne side in the Southern Indoor Bowls winter season, after knocking out the Melbourne Tuesday night side in the semi final came up against an excellent Brighton combination. Brighton jumped both rinks from the beginning and showed greater depth over all positions to move to an early lead and which gradually grew throughout the night.

The final result was a win to Brighton by over 30 shots with the last 2 ends not being played.
The team for the Grand Final was:
John McCarron, Jason Saunders, Geoff Boucher, and Adrian Bates.
and
Haydon Day, Hubert Day, Bob James and Ewen Wilson

Thanks to those from the club who came along to support the team including Joe, Linda, President Adam, Jean, Ron J., Dean, Colin and Greg C.

As always Southern Indoor Bowls put on a good feed at the end of the night when they presented all their club trophies as well as the presentation of the Trophy and prize money to winners Brighton and prize money to the runners up.

Thanks to SOuthern Indoor bowls for organising yet another successful season.

Friday night team into the GRAND FINAL       24-08-2010
The semifinal between the MBC indoor bowls teams of Tuesday and Friday nights went down to the wire. With one end to play the Tuesday night rink of Trevor Leonard, Ron Jackson, Darren Semple and Ben Rupert had to get one shot to tie the match and two shots to win. With the second last bowl of the night Trevor drew shot to make it two for the end and the match, BUT Haydon with his last bowl of the night and the match drew shot moving the jack and following it through to one shot for the end and a 2 shot win over all.

The Friday night side jumped the Tuesday night side to early with Craig McCarron, Graeme Rodgers, Peter Gribbin, and Joe Weisshardt down 8 zip to John McCarron, Jason Saunders, Geoff Boucher, and Adrian Bates. After that the game tightened up and Craig and his team came away with the points 22 to 17.

The other rink started even slower being down 18-0 before they scored a six. Trevor Leonard, Ron Jackson, Darren Semple and Ben Rupert came back strongly against Haydon Day, Hubert Day, Bob James and Ewen Wilson to finally lose 18-25.

Final scores were Friday night side 42 defeated Tuesday night side 40

Working bee -- Many hands make light work       23-08-2010
The working bee on Sunday 22nd was very successful with a good turn up and much achieved.

Those of you who missed the excitement of the day and the company of fellow members will see an impressive change to the front area in front of the Demons Den. The demolition squad moved in and cleared the pillars and anything else theat got in the way. Lead sledge hammer man Graham Zbijowski assisted by Ewen Wilson on the crowbar made light work of the four pillars with Arnold OBrien, Ron Jackson, Carlo Garbardi, Jason Saunders working the wheel barrows and clearing the rubble. Graeme Gardiner, Greg Crozier and Geoff Boucher demolished the veranda walls to open up the front of the Demons Den - Yet more rubble.

The painters were out in force again with the regular team of Peter Aldridge, Ian Jay, Gordon Lowing, Peter Gribbin along with Brian Richards, Justin White and Kevin Oram giving the atmosphere around the greens a bright and fresh look.

Gardiner extraordinaire Andrew Jackson was at it weeding and garden maintenance.

Inside Jean and Linda were giving the trophy cabinet a working over and it now all the trophies are once again glistening. The kitchen was in the capable hands of Max and Bob. The Demons Den and social bowls area was under the management of the club heavy weights of Peter and Adam . Looking after the bar store room - you guessed it was Ron Cross . Discovered there was 13 dozen new pots.
